Greetings! My name is Jacob and I am currently living in and exploring the great nation of South Korea. I am an English as a Foreign Language teacher (EFL / ESL) working for the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education. I teach at two different public elementary schools and I teach first through sixth grade. I was recruited by KorVia Consulting and went through the EPIK hiring process (E.P.I.K. - English Program in Korea). My current contract started in February of 2009 and goes through February of 2010. If you are a friend, thanks for following me! If you are a stranger and have questions about what it is like to teach overseas, or you just have an interest in South Korea, feel free to contact me with questions or comment on my blog. This blog is here for me to share my experiences with everyone. You can reach me by e-mail at jacobwboer [at] gmail [dot] com.

Hello everyone!

So in spite of spending the last two weeks almost drinking myself to death, I made it to South Korea. I will try to update this blog on a regular basis, but no promises!

I thought I would use this blog as a tool to remember what I did, funny and obscure things that I have experienced, and to a lesser extent any general feelings I have while writing this. It's not going to go all emo on you, though. Besides, I can't go throwing a phone in the river as a) I don't yet possess one, and b) the river is quite far away.
